The Minister for Interior and National Security, on Wednesday 21st May, 2025, paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Ya-Na Mahama Abukari II, the Overlord of Dagbon, at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi.
During their engagement, the Overlord, Ya-Na, reaffirmed his unwavering support for Government’s efforts towards maintaining peace and security in the Northern Region and across the country. He also emphasized the importance of resolving misunderstandings through legal and appropriate channels and called on all stakeholders to promote unity and harmony.
Yaa Na also assured the minister for Interior and National Security, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, of his commitment to collaboration and encouraged his ministry to continue engaging with relevant stakeholders to foster lasting peace and security.
“I reiterated Government’s strong dedication to working closely with traditional authorities to address security challenges and support regional development. I highlighted the crucial role traditional leaders play in promoting community cohesion and maintaining peace. I also assured His Majesty of the Ministry’s readiness to deepen its collaboration with the Gbewa Palace,” Hon Muntaka shared on his Facebook page.
The honorable minister’s sudden visit to the overlord of Dagbon marks an important step towards strengthening the bond between Government and traditional leadership, with a shared commitment to sustaining peace and security in the Northern Region in line with the vision of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in ensuring peace in Ghana as a necessary tool for development.
