West Africa Football Academy, WAFA invited defending champion Hearts of Oak at the Sogakope Park on Friday to open up games for Match Day Two. Kofi Kordzi scored on the 43rd minutes of the first half before Sampson Agyapong equalized for the home side on the 59th minutes. The 19-year-old won the Man of the Match.
Games continued on Saturday at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium.
Ashantigold SC drew one all with Karela United who have proven to be tough costumers for the “Miners” at the Len Clay Sports Stadium. Dafie Humid Mohammed pounced on a lose ball to open scoring for Karela United before Isaac Opoku Agyemang equalized from the spot for the home side before half time. Both teams shared spoils after ninety minutes with Eric Esso sweeping away the Man of the Match award.
At the Accra Sports Stadium, Legon Cities FC dealt with newcomers Real Tamale United by three goals to two to record their first win of the season. Joseph Adjei, Nat Akwah and Jonah Attuquaye were on the score sheet for Legon Cities whiles David Abagna Sandan grabbed a brace for the visitors to lead the goal king chart with three goals. Jonah Attuquaye won the Man of the Match award.
On Sunday, Accra Great Olympics dealt with newcomers Accra Lions FC convincingly at the Accra Sports Stadium by 3-1 where Maxwell Abbey Quaye grabbed the first hat-trick of the season and Richmond Ankrah got a consolation for Accra Lions. Hat-trick hero, Maxwell Abbey Quaye won the Man of the Match.
At the Golden City Park at Berekum, it was a Bono derby between Berekum Chelsea and Eleven Wonders which ended barren. Ex-Asante Kotoko midfielder Jackson Owusu win home with the Man of the Match award.
King Faisal shocked the world on Sunday at Dormaa Ahenkro when they trekked from Kumasi to beat Aduana Stars FC by 3-1 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park. Osman Ibrahim scored twice and Abdul Latif getting the third. Kwame Adom Frimpong got one back for the home side. Ibrahim Osman won the Man of the Match accolade.
Another important away win was recorded at the Nduom Sports Complex when Dreams FC beat Elmina Sharks by three goals to one. Trio Kwaku Karikari, Agyenim Boateng and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored for Dreams FC and Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw had a consolation for the home side. Michelle Sarpong got the Man of the Match award.
Asante Kotoko snatched away all three points late in the game against Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium by winning two goal to nil. Ismail Abdul Ganiu slot home with aplomb from the spot and Samuel Boateng headed home to give Asante Kotoko a soothing welcome back news after 20 months hiatus away from home. Samuel Osei Kuffour of Bechem United swept away the Man of the Match award.
On Tuesday, Medeama SC and Bibiani Goldstars wrapped up the week at the Akoon Park at Tarkwa. Bibiani Goldstars FC held the Yellow and Mauves to one all draw game with goals coming from Ahmed Toure and Joshua Akoto respectively.
