Head coach of the National U-20 team Abdul Karim Zito has thrown full support to Ghanaian defender Philemon Baffour for his constant call ups in the Black Stars squads.
Abdul Karim Zito explains that, the youngster is being called into the Black Stars on merit and nothing because of a relation with Kurt Okraku’s dreams FC.
Many have had problems with the regular call ups of Philemon Baffour but is yet to have a taste of a game at Black Stars after receiving the most number of call ups since January 2021.
However, the Asante Kotoko legend has given unflinching support to the 20-year-old saying he’s risen through the ranks and is earning every call up he deserves.
“Those who are complaining on why Philemon Baffour has been getting called up’s into the Black stars regularly and it’s because he plays for the GFA president Kurt team Dreams FC doesn’t know him or understand football,” he told Kumasi FM.
“Let me tell you something when this guy first came into the U20 he wasn’t performing well so I was not playing him, when we went to Benin he wasn’t playing but later he started showing his qualities and top form.”
“He is the best right back currently in our league and if u want ask U20 Management Committee Chairman Randy Abbey he would say same because he told me the guy is a good defender.”
Abdul Karim Zito advises Milovan Rajevac and his assistants to critically access Philemon Baffour and give him the chance the to prove his mettle.
“The technical handles should be bold and start playing him at Black Stars, he will surprise many.”
