Electricity has been restored three days after going off due to the refusal to pay the bills for about 6 months now. Officials of Electricity Company of Ghana have off the light of about 7200 traders in the market due to the refusal to pay electricity bill since May 2021. He explained since the market was built is only one metre that is being used and it has become a major problem in the market. . They have made complain to the Electricity Company of Ghana to provide them with individual meters refusal to do so generated all this problems they are currently facing. But with Allah on our side we have being able to go see officials of the ECG on the current happenings in the Kejetia Market. It one year now we have being following ECG but they keep tossing us. We took it upon ourselves to find solutions to the electricity meter issues. We visited consultant and those in charge of the project and their response was it is possible for each one of us to be having his meter later we came to the management and board and they told us it cant be possible. We went to a meeting with them and finally agreed to get a company to provide the meters. Glory be to Allah we have gotten a company to do that for us. We have finalize everything with documents for four months now but any time we talk to the authorities they keep on giving us stories. Light have been restored after the intervention of the chief executive of Kumasi.
He further explained that is a very bad idea for all traders to be using one electricity metre because some might be using gadget using higher voltage and be expecting to pay the same bills as those using gadget using low voltage. Through out his submission there has being an alarming case could it be that Government are benefiting from them that is why they don’t want to give them a listening ear.
