Ghana international forward, Abubakar Mahadi has expressed his dissatisfaction over playing again in the Ghana Premier League describing maltreatments as the reason behind his decision.

In an interview with Asawase-based Haske Radio, the experience striker has disclosed the maltreatments most of the veterans go through in relaunching their careers in the local league are just unbearable making reference to what happened to players like Odartey Lamptey, Laryea Kingston and just recently Asamoah Gyan. He said;
“I made a mark in Ghana. I was adjudged the discovery of the year in the 2005/06 season.”
“But the kind of treatments veteran suffers from football fans when they decide to relaunch their career in the GPL is unbearable. I was at Kotoko and i saw how Odartey Lamptey was treated so as Laryea Kingston and just recently Asamoah Gyan.”
“It is the reason i have no interest in playing in Ghana again.” He concluded Abubakar Mahadi, 36, is still playing actively with Egypt third-tier outfit Sohag FC hoping to play in his fourtees before he retires from the game.
