On Friday, 22nd octocber 2021. Adama Bawa was stabbed on her rib by an unknown attacker. The incident occurred at akwatialine. She is currently responding to treatment at Manhyia District Hospital.
Alhaji Abdul Rahim, an eye witness, explained to us about what happened to the victim. He said between 8:00pm to 8:20pm, the victim was sent to buy food. The unknown attacker asked her to bring the money she was holding but she refused which resulted in her being stabbed with a knife. The attacker then bolted away after sensing danger of being arrested. He explained how the area has become a haven for bad guys who were removed from Tinka and Aboabo Kasan Bola. The attacker is no where to be found after a thorugh search of the site of the incidence by residents.
In an interview with the victim’s father, he explained to us what happen the night of the incidence. “Mma Adama was praying and I called her to run a errand for me. Her big sister wanted to go but I insisted that she should allow Mma Adama to go. I sent her to fetch some keys from a neighbour for me but his wife told her he was not around. I then told her to buy me natural Tamarind drink (Biyan Tsamiya). I was at a tailor’s shop having a conversation when the tailor prompted me to see my injured daughter. I just saw blood oozing from her abdominal region as she was saying ‘Daddy I am going to die’. I took her with the help of one tricycle (Adaidaita Sahu) rider to Manhyia District Hosptial for medical care.
She was rushed to the theather but the nurses said there was no doctor on duty and so they had to bandage her stomach to ease the pain and stop the blood from flowing as they await the arrival of the doctor. She was able to sleep for sometime and woke up later. That was when we started asking her about what happened to her.” She is safe and responding to treatment he added.
In an interview with Mohammed Mahir, a brother to the victim he explained; ‘I was home yesterday with a friend when I received a call that an unknown person has stabbed my sister with a knife so I should come to the Manhyia Hospital right away. I rushed to the hospital to meet my parents. Currently she is receiving treatment. What we don’t understand is why the unknown attacker did not take the money from her but rather hurt her and left’.
According to an interview with the assemblyman of the area (Akwatia LIne Electoral Area), he said this is the first time such a thing is happening in his electoral area. ‘I have called the police commander and he was surprised. As it stands now we are taking preventive measures to ensure safety in the area’, the assemblyman added.
