OPINION: King Faisal must be taken serious
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The ambience around King Faisal is in bonhomie from a club that has been in turmoil over the years trying to regain its lost identity and popularity in the flagship topflight league in Ghana. It has been a par excellence performance from King Faisal in the early exchanges of the 2021/22 season winning three out of three game; a feet no one ever predicted and envisaged prior to the start of the season.

Following King Faisal over the years left so much hopes of reaching the level known of them during their “Nokia Boys” days, albeit there weren’t much quality to rely on in bridging that dichotomy left behind the squad of two decades ago. In fact, this is a reality all clubs are facing in the Ghana Premier League.

They have become the cynosure on the lips of many a Ghanaian football follower after Match Day Three as they took every tom, dick and harry by surprise after accepting the reality of making changes in how to run a modern day club which is having a greater impact on the performance of the team.

For a standard that a football team needed to performance well, King Faisal had them since they gained promotion into the topflight league in the 2019/2020 season but had managerial lapses which berated from the performances the playing body displayed.

Early preparation, strategic signing, decisive decision making at management level, concern to player welfare, have created a convivial atmosphere at the club this season to allow the technical team and the playing body room to churn out results.

Unlike previous seasons, the dolour situation the club found itself in in terms of preparation left them struggling to survive relegation.

This path taken means, King Faisal will not be in a mess like seasons before should plans remain the same with a clear picture drawn in their first three games of the season; winning three difficult games against WAFA and Ashantigold SC at home and Aduana Stars at Dormaa Ahenkro, breaking their record that stood for over five years.

This feet chalked in the first three games isn’t fortuitously gained but through sweat from all fronts. The sudden frisson of nervousness by all for King Faisal is not likely to be dashed away any time soon, even though many are yet to be played for in the season judging from the alacrity and will to play from the team.

The performance of King Faisal so far, is a clarion call to any club that is yet to play them regardless of the match venue, to put in extra preparation and strengthening of arsenals to get a result from the “Insha Allah” boys.

King Faisal will definitely drop points during the course of the season but will not come easy like we saw them previous season. They are in to make a mark this season.
