Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi has finally decided to ditch England’s Three Lions for Ghana’s Black Stars though paperwork is yet to commence.

According to latest reports from people close to the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League winner recent happenings in the final of the UEFA Euro 2020 final has aided the player in his decision.

The reports claim Hudson-Odoi has been left unhappy with the racial abuse targeted at some coloured players in the England Three Lions squad following their penalty loss to Italy in the final of the tournament.

After England lost in the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, online abuse was targeted at three Black players, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. This incident reveals a larger societal problem of racism in sports and online.

Hudson-Odoi feels he could be submitted to same fate in the event he continues to play for the Three Lions and England suffer losses at any competition. He has represented England at various youth levels starting from U16 to the U21 team before making 3 appearances for Gareth Southgate’s senior squad.

The 20-year-old was courted by Ghana’s President Nana Akufo Addo during his holiday period in the West African nation. The President openly tasked the Minister of Youth and Sports to explore chances of getting the winger to switch his nationality to play for the Ghana.

Since leaving the shores of the country last months the former Bayern Munich target has had issues concerning his international future on his mind as he pondered over the choice of England over the country of his parents.

Despite appearing for England at senior level he is still eligible to switch his nationality to represent Ghana.
