Ghanaian Players Abroad; Salisu excels, Tetteh scores and more

Starting in England, Mohammed Salisu was outstanding and named man of the match in Southampton’s 2-2 away stalemate against Newcastle United at the St Jame’s Park in week three of the English Premier League.

Crystal Palace held West Ham United to a 2-2 drawn game at the London Olympic Stadium. Jordan Ayew lasted the entire minutes of the game whiles Jeffrey Schlupp came on for James McArthur on the 88th minute.

In the Championship, Huddersfield Town humiliated Reading by 4-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium last Saturday. Andy Yiadom was yellow carded and saw a full time action in that clash.

Athletic Bilbao inflicted a painful 1-0 loss on Celta Vigo at the Abanca Balaidos over the weekend in the Spanish Laliga.

Former Inter Allies defender Joseph Aidoo lasted 80 minutes in the game having came off for Thiago Galhardo.

However in Italy, Emmanuel Gyasi enjoyed full throttle as SS Lazio thumped on his club Spezia Calcio by 6-1 at the Stadio Olympico.

Black Stars midfielder Alfred Duncan came on as a substitute for Gaetano Castrovilli on the 62nd minute in his side, ACF Fiorentina’s resounding 2-1 win over FC Torino at the Estadio Artemio Franche.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Kasim Nuhu Adams was an unused substitute in TSG Hoffenheim’s 3-2 loss to giants Borussia Dortmund in a Friday night at the Signal Iduna Park OGC Nice annihilated Bordeaux by 4-0 at the Allianz Riviera over the weekend in the French Ligue 1.

Enock Kwateng played all minutes and was yellow carded, while ex- WAFA boy Gideon Mensah also played 46 minutes for the visitors.

Kamaldeen Sulemana was as usual in the starting line up for Stade Rennais in their awful 2-0 loss to Angers away from home. He was subbed off on the 46th minute for Eduardo Camavinga.

Black Meteors star Osman Bukari played 70 minutes for FC Nantes in their narrow 0-1 home defeat to Olympique Lyon last Friday. Dennis Appiah also lasted only 40 minutes for the host in that game.

Alexander Djiku returns from suspension and saw full time action for Strasbourg in their 3-1 victory over Brest to pick their first three points of the season.

Bernard Mensah returned to action over the weekend in the Turkish Super Ligue playing all 90 minutes in his club Kayserispor’s crucial 0-1 away triumph over the defending champions. Joseph Attamah also enjoyed full time action for the victors.

At the Malatya Stadymu, ex- Dreams FC attacker Benjamin Tetteh was on target again for Yeni Malatyaspor in their emphatic 2-0 victory over Gaziantep FK.

Black Stars midfielder Isaac Sackey was introduced on the 79th minute in Hatayspor’s huge 5-0 demolition win against Alanyaspor.

Anderlecht suffered a slim 1-0 defeat against Genk in the Belgian topflight. Majeed Ashimeru made a cameo appearance in that game whiles Francis Amuzu was also introduced on the 65th minute.

Newly-invited Black Stars goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen was in goal for KAS Eupen in the Belgian Jupiler Pro league but they unfortunately lost 1-2 at home to RFC Seraing.

Black Meteors skipper Yaw Yeboah continue to excel in the Polish topflight after providing an assist in Wisla Krakow’s slim 1-0 triumph over Legia Warszawa. He played 90 minutes before he was taken off for Maciej Sadlok.

Ghana U23 striker Samuel Obeng Gyabaa enjoyed 88 minutes of action when Tenerife held his side Real Oviedo to a goalless drawn game in the Spanish Segunda division.

Black Stars netminder Lawrence Ati Zigi conceded three times in FC ST Gallen’s 3-3 draw against FC Zuerich in the Swiss Super league. Former WAFA defender Musah Nuhu continue to remain sideline due to injury.

At the Aalborg Portland Park, former Right to Dream Academy graduate Abu Francis played 72 minutes in FC Nordsjaelland’s 2-1 defeat to AaB in the Danish Super Ligue.

Former Hearts of Oak forward Kwame Kizito netted a brace to mark his 6th goal of the season in Falkenbergs FF important 1-3 away win over Vaestaraas SK in the Swedish Superettan.

Former Black Starlets defender Abdul Razak Yusif was target for Paide Linnameeskon in their emphatic 4-1 victory over FC Kuressaare in the Estonia Meistriliiga. His countryman Deabeas Owusu Sekyere also netted a brace in that particular game.

Ghanaian midfielder Ernest Agyiri was on target for league leaders Levadia in their 2-1 triumph over Nommé JK in the Estonian topflight.

In the MLS, Columbus Crew produced a great comeback to beat FC Cincinnati by 3-2. Jonathan Mensah captain the home team alongside compatriot Harrison Afful who both enjoyed full time action.

Former Right to Dream Academy boy Isaac Atanga also came off the bench to score an awesome goal for the visitors.

Lalas Abubakar enjoyed full throttle for Colorado Rapids who held Sporting Kansas City to a 1-1 stalemate at the Children’s Mercy Park.
